The Repertoire of Chamber Ensembles Competition
PIANO QUINTET


General rules:

  • The chamber ensembles of the following instrumentation may participate in the piano quintet category:

           · Piano and the string quartet.

  • Participants (each ensemble) have to prepare the program in accordance with the competition repertoire presented below, and the selected program must be stated in the application form;
  • Compositions in different rounds cannot be repeated;
  • The exact programme for chamber ensembles will be determined by the jury, whose decisions will be announced to the contestants before their performances;
  • Participants will be able to change their programs and performance order when logged in to their artistDB account until 20 February, 2026;
  • Participants will be required to perform their programs in the order of their own choice, finally made and provided in artistDB on 20 February, 2026;
  • Jury members can stop an unprofessional performance.
PRESELECTION ROUND VIDEO may be submitted, amended or modified until the end of the registration. The applicant are required to submit an active YouTube link of the video recording of about 10-15 minutes, where he/she/they performs a free program. Pieces presented at these recordings may be repeated in the following rounds. Each piece must be recorded in its entirety, providing coherency without any editing or cutting, which is strictly prohibited, but different pieces may be recorded at different times and in different locations.
1ST ROUND (the total duration should not exceed 1 hour)

 

1) A piano quintet from ones listed below:

  • R. Schumann · Piano Quintet · Op. 44 · E-flat major;
  • A. Dvořák · Piano Quintet · No. 2 · Op. 81 · A major;
  • C. Franck · Piano Quintet · FWV 7 · CFF 121 · F minor.

 

2) One of S. Vainiūnas' piano quintets:

  • Piano Quintet · No. 1 · Op. 25;
  • Piano Quintet · No. 2.

 

FINAL (the total duration should not exceed 45 min.)

One Piano Quintet from the mentioned below:

  • J. Brahms · Piano Quintet · Op. 34 · F minor;
  • E. Elgar · Piano Quintet · Op. 84 · A minor;
  • G. Fauré · Piano Quintet · No. 2 · Op. 115 · C minor;
